Walks Greenspaces and Countryside
Arboretum - Lincoln - Green Flag Award - Tarmac Footpaths (no other info on council website)
Bourne Woods - Larch Walk - 3/4 mile circular easy access trail. Download the leaflet PDF
Chambers Farm Wood - There is a circular easy access route around the wood, waymarked with white striped posts and approximately 2km (1 ¼ miles) in length. The paths are hard surfaced but bumpy in places with some loose stones. In places the path is less than 1m wide. The route is either level or gently sloping.
Cleethorpes Country Park - Access for wheelchair users
Deeping Lakes - There is a circular route through the reserve and along the river bank which is approximately 2 km (1 ¼ miles) in length. The reserve has areas of deep water. The paths are mostly short grass and bare earth. The route is mostly level with some short slopes.
Eastern Slea walk - Much of the River Slea walk is suitable for people using wheelchairs as the paths are tarmac. (taken from http://www.n-kesteven.gov.uk/section.asp?docId=568)
Horncastle Community Woodland - There are numerous mown grass paths through the wood for you to explore. They are level and suitable for the robust buggies and wheelchairs when the ground conditions are dry.
Lincoln Castle - (Charges) - Lincoln Castle is partially accessible. There is a ramp to the Magna Carta and the Charter of the Forest exhibition. The Prison Experience has a lift to the ground floor only. There is a toilet suitable for disabled visitors and the shop has an induction loop.
Lincoln Cathedral - "we try to cater for those with any form of mobility problems by providing permanent access ramps into the Cathedral and up into the east end and St Hugh's Choir . . . . we try to cater for those with any form of mobility problems by providing permanent access ramps into the Cathedral and up into the east end and St Hugh's Choir.We also have fully accessible toilets for disabled visitors".
Peoples Park (Grimsby) - Access for wheelchair users
Saltfleetby-Theddlethorpe Dunes - Easy-access route (Registered BT Millennium Mile), tactile interpretation panels, audio tape information and tape player hire, disabled parking, accessible toilets (May-Sept), seats, braille leaflet, staff interpretation officer available for visits (Apr-Sept)
Sheffield Park (Scunthorpe) - Green Flag Award - The park is fully accessible for people with disabilities. Sensory garden.
Spa Trail - This easy, traffic free route is ideal for wheelchair users and families with young children and pushchairs.
Stapleford Wood - A relatively short walk on good surfaces, this walk is suitable for all abilities including wheelchairs and pushchairs.
Country Parks
Hartsholme Country Park Visitor Centre Surfaces suitable for wheelchairs and ambulant disabled.
Normanby Hall Museum and Country Park - (Charges) - Much of the park is accessible with paved roads and path areas between the main buildings on site. 1 Scooter and 2 wheelchairs are on loan free of charge.
Snipe Dales Country Park - A metalled footpath leading from the Country Park car park to the central ponds and bird hide has been provided to make access easier but because of the topography it is nevertheless a "firm push" for wheelchairs. Wheelchair users may gain access by car to the central ponds; ask a Warden or leave a message on the telephone answering machine.
Nature Reserves
Broxholme Wild at Heart Nature Reserve and Art Centre - We are able to offer assisted access to some of the gallery rooms for visitors using their wheelchair. Motorised wheelchairs may be unsuitable. Most of the mown grass paths are accessible with care although parts are uneven due to the presence of rabbits and moles.
Cleethorpes LNR - Access for wheelchair users
Freiston Shore (RSPB) - The bird hide and part of the wetland trail are accessible to disabled visitors.
Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust Reserves with wheelchair access - 25 Reserves with wheelchair access to at least part of the reserve
South Thoresby Warren - There is a circular route around the reserve, approximately 900m (½ mile) in length. The paths are hard surfaced but bumpy in places with some loose stones. All paths are over 1m wide. After heavy rain there maybe standing water on the paths.
Weelsby Woods LNR (Grimsby) - Access for wheelchair users
Whisby Nature Park - There is a circular route around Grebe Lake, one of the six lakes in the park, approximately 2km (1 ¼ miles) in length and waymarked with orange arrows. The paths are made of compacted stone. The route is either level or gently sloping.- six adapted for wheel chair access, and a set of seven large interpretation boards explaining the habitats and species to be seen through the seasons. East Lindsey District Council - Beach Wheelchairs - You can use the wheelchairs Free of Charge, we only ask for a £20 deposit which is refundable when the wheelchair is returned undamaged - also see this site (There are two beach wheelchairs available for hire in Skegness ....Another two wheelchairs are available further up the coast - one in Sutton-on-Sea and another in Mablethorpe.)
Lincoln Disability Forum - consists of representatives from Disability Forums who are committed to working together to ensure that the views of disabled people are fairly and equally represented in Lincoln. The forum includes Groups that are run by and for people with Disabilities.
The Laffletics Club (Sleaford) - is an adapted sports club for young people of all ages and abilities.
Cleethorpes - Beach Wheelchairs - special beach wheelchairs, available to hire from the Beach Safety First Aid Station opposite the Pier in Cleethorpes.
Cleethorpes has a 'changing place' - available at the Boating Lake near the Discovery Centre. This facility provides families and carers a space to care for older children and adults with more severe or complex needs whilst out and about.
