Disabled Access, Wheelchair walks, Easy Access, Access for All, Mobility, Walks on Wheels, Miles without Stiles - whatever the term the following is all about accessibility to the countryside and green spaces of Wiltshire

Walks Greenspaces and Countryside

Conygre Mead - (Malmesbury) Access at both entrances suitable for wheelchairs

Coate Water Country Park -70 acre reservoir - there are a number of accessible bird hides. Many of the angling pegs are accessible to wheelchair users, several level and surfaced paths lead in and around the park. A tramper is available that can access pretty much anywhere in the park.

Lawns Park - There are a number of surfaced paths around the park suitable for wheelchair users.

Ludgershall Castle and Cross - Disabled access to part of the site only, and village cross.

Lydiard House and Park - Wide, accessible pathways open up this 260 acre site to walkers, joggers, cyclists and wheelchair users. entry to grounds is free. Cafe and childrens play area - There is wheelchair access to the House, Church and Visitor Centre (charges) - Tramper available.

North Cliffs - An easily accessed, 1 mile long (½ mile each way) walk giving excellent views of Cornwall’s rugged north coast

Palmer Gardens Garden Centre and Cafe - Palmer Gardens is a garden centre, cafe and Social Enterprise, Palmer Gardens provides training and employment to disabled and disadvantaged people, it also has a ‘Nature Trail’ covering the park area which includes specimen plants, explainations on the local wildlife including birds and the protected Great Crested Newt population.

Pewsey Heritage Centre - Pewsey Heritage Centre's collection reflects the past life and times of the people of the beautiful Vale of Pewsey, set in the heart of the Wiltshire countryside. Pewsey Heritage Centre is fully accessible for wheel chair and small electric buggy users. There are no steps or slopes outside the entrance.

Trowbridge Museum - The Museum has wheel chair access by lift. Please check before you come that the lift is working.The Museum displays are all on one level except the Castle which has a wheel chair ramp.

West Woods - The woods are renowned for their bluebells and can be accessed via an easy access trail.

Country Parks

Coate Water Country Park- (Swindon) Green Flag Award - There are several walks in and around the park, many of which are level and surfaced - making them suitable for wheelchair users. The most popular route is around the lake. This is 1.75 miles (2.8km) long - Tramper available

Stanton Country Park Green Flag Award - Circular surfaced route suitable for wheelchairs. Toilet block including disabled facilities.

Nature Reserves

Coombe Bissett Down Nature Reserve - Access to reserve for wheelchair users through small gate in car park - suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs. Dogs welcome on short leads.

Langford Lakes Nature Reserve - Dedicated parking for disabled visitors. There are hard, level paths, making access easy for all abilities. Access for wheelchair anglers is available. Suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs.

North Meadow, Cricklade NNR - There is a disabled access gate at the site, although the reserve can become very wet, so access is not advised at these times. Access is restricted to the public footpath - also see this site

Parsonage Down NNR - Accessible toilets. on-site parking. There are toilets at the farm office, including one for the disabled

Rushy Platt Nature Reserve - suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs. Dogs welcome on short leads. Please stay on the boardwalks at all times to avoid damage to the soft ground.
