Walks Greenspaces and Countryside

Aberavon seafront - Access: Accessible to all - Aberavon seafront is one of Wales’ longest Blue Flag beaches and has a contemporary promenade that overlooks Swansea Bay

Aberdulais Falls (NT) - (Charges) Today the waters of the River Dulais are used to make Aberdulais Falls self-sufficient in environmentally friendly energy, with its waterwheel – the largest in Europe generating electricity. Lifts enable visitors to access the upper levels for excellent views of the falls. - Lifts and wheelchairs available Stable Block and Tin exhibition with interactive displays. Ramp access for wheelchairs. Turbine House. Lift access to Cinema presentation and roof level. - One carer per disabled visitor is allowed free entry.

Afan Forest Park - Access: Accessible to all. Beamer Tramper available for hire- also see the next listing

Afan Forest Park Visitor Centre - There are walking trails, family cycling and exhilarating mountain bike trails as well as picnic areas and the new South Wales Miners Museum (charges apply to Miners Museum)

Craig Gwladys - Some of the woodland walks are strenuous and less abled visitors may require additional help.

Forest Fawr - A purpose built trail all through woodland (broadleaf) with a midway viewpoint, seating and some wood scultpures on route. 1130 metres

Forest Garden - A forest garden area/enclosure.Access is from Rhyslyn car park and on the south side of the Afan River. 750 metres

Glanrhyd Plantation and Cwm Du Glen - Access: A purpose built path takes you as far as the weir.

Glantawe Riverside Park - The main paths can be enjoyed by all.

Glyncorrwg Mountain Bike Centre & Ponds - Accessible to all. Disabled facilities on site

Neath Canal and the Tennant Canal - Access: Restored section north of Resolven and the Aberdulais Basin are both accessible to disabled visitors (also see this site)

Owls Grove Boardwalk - Timber planted raised boardwalk, starting from the side of the public road into young woodland before finishing at two separate ponds with viewing area. - 149 metres

Pontneddfechan - Access: The riverside walk along the Nedd Fechan is accessible to all for approx 1km. The Waterfall Walks beyond this point are inaccessible to wheelchair users.

South Wales Miners Museum - (Charges) - Most of the site is accessible for disabled visitors. For specific needs, please contact the Museum for information. There are toilet facilities for the disabled on site and Guide Dogs are welcome.

Torfaen Leisure Route - National Cycle Network Route 46 - It has been designed for shared use by cyclists, walkers, wheelchair users and, in parts, horse-riders

Whitestone Trail - A linear trail starting from Whitestone car park through well established woodlands - 360 metres

Victoria Gardens - High in quality facilities, the park is a regular winner of the prestigious Green Flag Award. (ACE note - we have been unable to find any accessibility info for this site please contact us with any access info.)

Willow Walk - A purpose built path running along a stream with some splendid waterfall areas. There is also a boardwalk spur that leads to a pond where pond dipping is carried out. - 292 metres

Country Parks

Gnoll Estate Country Park - 200 acres of beautiful country park to explore. A large part of the Forest Park can be enjoyed by all. Trampers available for hire. also see this site

Margam Country Park - Margam Park has a Shopmobility Beamer Tramper Buggy which is available to hire for use within the Park. 2 distinct routes have been prepared for use in the Park:- both start from the disabled parking area behind Margam Castle. also see this site

Nature Reserves

Pant-y-Sais Fen Nature Reserve - Accessible to the disabled including wheelchair- bound visitors with carers.

Serenity Neath Port Talbot - If you have a physical, mental, sensory or learning disability or care for someone with a disability then Serenity Neath Port Talbot could offer you support from Trained and Experienced Counsellors.

Ask is a signposting and information service for adults and young people with High functioning Autism or Aspergers.
