Wiltshire Accessible Countryside

Disabled Access, Wheelchair walks, Easy Access, Access for All, Mobility, Walks on Wheels, Miles without Stiles - whatever the term the following is all about accessibility to the countryside and green spaces of Wiltshire.

Walks Greenspaces and Countryside

 

Bradford-on-Avon - This 4km route alongside the River Avon and the Kennet and Avon Canal passes through the historic Barton Farm Park and leads to the Avoncliff aqueduct. The complete walk is accessible for all except hand-propelled wheelchairs. Subject to conditions underfoot, wheelchair users can enjoy a riverside walk of similar length.

Coate Water Country Park -70 acre reservoir - there are a number of accessible bird hides. Many of the angling pegs are accessible to wheelchair users "There are several walks in and around the park, many of which are level and surfaced making them suitable for wheelchair users" - from the Swindon Council website

 

Langford Lakes Nature Reserve - We understand that there is dedicated parking for disabled visitors. There are hard, level paths and access for wheelchair anglers is also available. "Suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs" - from the Wiltshire Wildlife website

 

Nightingale Wood - "community woodland that supports a large variety of wildlife, especially birds" - " There are hard surface paths throughout with three waymarked walking trails on site" - from the Forestry England website

 

Stanton Country Park Green Flag Award - "Circular surfaced route suitable for wheelchairs. Toilet block including disabled facilities" - from the Swindon Council website

 

West Woods - The woods are renowned for their bluebells and can be accessed via an easy access trail - from the Forestry England website
